Children's Centre Future

As you are aware Norfolk County Council is redesigning it’s Early Childhood and Family services. Part of the redesign has resulted in our children’s centre being closed as of October 1st 2019. There have been many questions from our service users about the future and so we thought it may be useful to supply the following information:

The children’s centre building will be used to offer services to families with children aged 0-5yrs, it has not yet been decided what will be provided and by who. As part of the new service design there will be sessions and support available to families either in community venues or family homes. Norfolk County Council will announce in April who they have awarded the new contract to and it will be from that point when we will be able to provide more information on what services will be delivered and which venues will be used from October 1st.

As you may appreciate the redesign has caused some uncertainty for the staff team. It is anticipated that some staff members may decide to secure positions with new employers. We aim to provide as many of our groups and services as possible, however if and when our staff numbers reduce we will need to evaluate our services and some changes to our sessions may occur.

We will try our hardest to make sure that families can continue to access sessions and support when they need to.

We are sad to say that Michelle and Laura (2 of our outreach workers) will be leaving the centre following offers of employment supporting families for different employers. We thank them for all the great work they have done with us and wish them well in their new roles.

We will continue to provide updates when we have new information to share but please remember that the children’s centre remains open and available to you until September 30th 2019. Ducketts preschool is not affected and will remain open.

If you have any questions please contact us and will try our best to provide you with the information you require.
